Top Ten Movie Moments

Ok everyone….

We’re going to be a little random in this space at times to mix it up. So today we’re going to list the top ten movie moments that come to my mind at 6:26 pm. Let’s do it…………

10)  Tombstone – all the guys walking down the street toward the OK Corral in their sweet trench coats.  Doc Holliday “shrugs” his off as he pulls up his rifle.  I think I would look solid shrugging off a trench coat.

9) Lion King – Circle of Life opening scene is tough to beat.

8)  E.T. – Flying on bikes.  It’s reported that in the 80’s, “flying on a bike” wishes when blowing out birthday candles spiked 700%.

7) Rudy – you might be thinking it’s when he sacks the quarterback at the end….but no!  It’s when he gets his acceptance letter while sitting on the bench.

6) Field of Dreams – When Shoeless Joe Jackson first comes back and talks about the feel and smell of baseball.  So awesome.   I would throw batting practice to a ghost if given the chance.

5) Say Anything – When John Cusack holds the boombox outside her bedroom window.  I wish I could hold a boombox outside of Jenn’s bedroom window.  But… that would be my bedroom window . . .too…so that’s weird.

4) Dumb and Dumber – the snowball fight.  I was on the floor of the theater the first time I saw it.

3) The Princess Bride – Anything Inigo Montoya says.  I do a money imitation when I’m driving.

2) Braveheart – All of them.  Every single frame of film.  I’m serious.  Every frame.

1) Karate Kid – The crane kick.  I will cry right now.

Ok, let me have it….but remember, these are just off the top of my head right now, so don’t get all crazy and stuff……

  1. Concerning Braveheart, would you even go with the scene at the end of a battle where the British have been routed, and in the background you can see some guys still “fighting” at about 25% speed?

I love that scene in Field of Dreams too, but I would take any scene in “The Natural” over anything in that movie. Even the scenes with Wilford Brimley in his knickers.

  2. What about top gun? “I hit the brake and they will fly right by.”. “your gonna do what?!?!”

  3. Yes Tim. Every frame.

a poor scene in Braveheart is excellence in lesser films.

    freeeeeeeeeeedooooom!

  4. Any list with out Caddy Shack is not a list! “Be the Ball Danny”

  5. miss it noonan

  6. What about when the U.S. beats the Soviet Union in Miracle? Talk about hair raising.

  7. Final scene of Rocky IV. “If I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!” Single-handedly brought an end to the Cold War.

  8. “I can change, YOUS can change….we can all change!”

    well done Chris.

  9. Casablanca is so full of memorable lines I don’t know where to start. But we can end with the closing scene, “Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

  11. umm… Zoolander….

    “Oh, it’s IN the computer…”
    “Mer-man, dad – MER-MAN!”
“What is this a school for ANTS?!?!”

  13. What about Sixth Sense?

Bruce Willis’ “revelation” – WOW, that was a moment!!

  14. only one romantic movie in the whole bunch? I am shocked by you chad- shocked. at least you picked one of the very best….”i gave her my heart, and she gave me a pen”
But to totally rat out my wonderful hubby, watching The Notebook with him and the old couple when they are dancing and then she has an amnesiac episode…? I have only seen him cry at two movies and that was one of them. I hate cry movies, but loved that one.

  15. “You can’t HANDLE the truth!”
    - A Few Good Men

  16. Also, two scenes from The Shawshank Redemption — the opera song in the prison yard and the final reveal — still get me every time.

  17. mer MAN is amazing, Brian…..well played.

  18. two words… Red Dawn
